RURAL RICE COUNTY

Permits are obtained through the DNR website at the link below.  The cost is $5.00 paid by credit card.  When you conduct a burn you return to the same website to activate the permit.  You will get an activation number for that day.  The number and site are automatically transmitted to the Pearl Street Dispatch Center in Owatonna, it is not necessary to call them to activate.










RURAL DAKOTA COUNTY

Fill out a Minnesota Open Burning Permit.  It can be obtained at the Fire Station (on the right-hand wall of the entrance) or by printing the PDF below.  Leave the completed permit at the Fire Station or email it to admin@nafrs.org.  The Permit must be approved and signed by the Fire Chief in order for it to be effective.

REQUEST A BURN PERMIT:


1) Choose the appropriate permit for your location;

2) Print, and complete necessary information;

3) Scan and email to admin@nafrs.org, noting 'Burn Permit' in subj. line;

4) Your Permit will be returned to you via email.


  • Check the MinnesotaDNR website for any possible burning restrictions, and


  • Activate your Burn Permit either online, or by calling the number listed on your Permit, as directed on the form.

City of NORTHFIELD

​Fill out the application for permit for open burning.  It can be obtained at the Fire Department (on the right-hand wall of the entrance) or by printing the PDF below.  The completed form may be returned to the Fire Department or emailed to admin@nafrs.org  The Fire Chief must sign the permit in order for it to be effective. 


(*Note: A 'recreational bonfire, so long as it is less than 3' in height and less than 3' in diameter, does not require a burn permit.  A fire any larger, does require a permit.)
